Code Of Conduct

CenterPoint Church - Code of Conduct
For those in a role of Spiritual Authority at CenterPoint Church
“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.” -Phil. 1:27
We define those who have spiritual authority as those engaged in shepherding, teaching, leading through worship or any other spiritual practice within our church.
Everyone at CenterPoint who holds one of these positions must be willing to emulate Jesus Christ. We do not expect anyone to be without struggle or sin, but we do expect you to be striving to apply all of His Word to your life. Since the people of our church will be looking to you as role models, you must “in everything set them an example by doing what is good” (Titus 2:7).
For this reason we are establishing clear standards regarding the conduct of our people in spiritual roles. Our goal here is not to be legalistic or judgmental, but to provide helpful guidelines for those of us seeking spiritual health as we seek God’s call on our lives.
The following is not an all-inclusive list of things to avoid. Rather, it is a framework for the way we expect our leaders to respond to certain temptations of our day.
Please read through the following affirmations and commit to honoring this code of conduct.
1) I will submit myself to the governing authorities, knowing the authorities that exist have been established by God (Rom. 13:1; Titus 3:1).
2) I will treat my body as the temple of the Holy Spirit, avoiding drunkenness and the use of drugs or illegal substances (1 Cor. 5:11, 6:19-20; Eph. 5:18).
3) I will pursue wisdom in my speech. This includes avoiding gossip, causing division, and using inappropriate language. It also means I will bring any concerns or conflicts to the direct attention of an elder or pastor (James 3:8; Titus 3:10).
4) I will flee from sexual immorality and strive to live above reproach. If unmarried, this includes not cohabitating with someone of the opposite sex (including a fiancé) and abstaining from sex before marriage. If married, this includes not placing yourself in a compromising situation and remaining faithful to your spouse (Gen. 2:20-25; Heb. 12:6; 1 Tim. 3:2).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will do my best to abide by this code of conduct. If I find that I am struggling spiritually or have done something to compromise my position, I will immediately contact one of the elders or pastors to seek counsel and direction.
